Terms and Conditions

Read our Terms and Conditions Carefully before entering.

Version 1.0 · Last updated 21 September 2026 · Replaces all earlier terms

Please read these terms carefully. By entering any of our competitions, whether by buying tickets or by the free postal route, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not enter.

1. Who we are

1.1 The promoter of every competition on this website is A1 Competitions Limited, a company registered in Scotland with company number SC880484, whose registered office is at The Roost Cottage, Maryculter, Aberdeen, AB12 5GT ("A1", "we", "us", "our").

1.2 You can contact us by email at [email protected], by phone on 07446 836663 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm), or by post at A1 Competitions Limited, Maryculter Organic Farm, Maryculter, Aberdeen, AB12 5GT (our "Postal Address").

1.3 Our competitions are prize competitions with a free entry route. They are not lotteries and are not licensed by the Gambling Commission. Every competition offers an equal chance of winning to entrants who pay and entrants who enter for free by post.

2. Some definitions

  • Competition: a prize draw listed on our website, with its own competition page.
  • Competition Page: the page on our website describing a Competition, including the prize, the ticket price, the number of tickets available, the closing date, the draw date and method, any ticket limits, whether a cash alternative is offered, and any extension terms.
  • Ticket: a numbered entry in a Competition. A Ticket is allocated to you when you pay for it online or when we accept your postal entry.
  • Closing Date: the date and time shown on the Competition Page after which no further entries are accepted, or the earlier moment at which all Tickets are sold.
  • Draw: the selection of the winning Ticket for the main prize, as described in section 8.
  • Instant Win: an extra prize attached in advance to particular Ticket numbers in some Competitions, as described in section 7.
  • Site Credit: a balance in your account wallet that can be used to buy Tickets on our website.

3. Eligibility

3.1 You may enter if you are 18 or over and resident in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland). Our competitions are not open to anyone outside the United Kingdom.

3.2 You may not enter if you are an employee or director of A1, a member of their household or immediate family, or anyone professionally connected with a Competition, for example a prize supplier.

3.3 You must hold an account on our website in your own name, with accurate details including your date of birth. We ask for your date of birth at registration and may ask you to prove your age, identity and address before we pay out any prize. One person may hold one account only.

3.4 If any of these requirements is not met, your entry is invalid, you will not be entitled to any prize, and any payment you made will not be refunded.

4. How to enter online

4.1 Choose a Competition, select the number of Tickets you want and pay at checkout. We accept debit cards only; we do not accept credit cards. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Cashflows. We do not store your full card details.

4.2 You may also pay with Site Credit held in your account wallet, in full or in part.

4.3 Each Competition Page states the maximum number of Tickets one person may hold in that Competition and, where applicable, the maximum per order. These limits vary from Competition to Competition. We may also apply a site-wide limit on the number of Tickets in a single order. We may cancel Tickets that exceed a limit and refund them.

4.4 Your Ticket numbers are allocated by our platform when your payment is confirmed and are shown in your account and in your confirmation email. Ticket numbers are allocated at random unless the Competition Page says otherwise.

4.5 Your order is complete when you receive the confirmation email. If a Competition sells out or closes while you are checking out, you will not be charged for Tickets we cannot allocate.

5. How to enter for free by post

5.1 You can enter any Competition without paying by sending us a postcard. Postal entries have exactly the same chance of winning as paid entries, in the Draw and for any Instant Wins, and are treated in the same way in every respect.

5.2 To enter by post you must first register an account on our website (free), and the details on your postcard must match your account. Then send us one unenclosed postcard for each entry you want, by ordinary first or second class post, to our Postal Address, stating clearly and by hand:

  • the name of the Competition;
  • your full name;
  • your date of birth (you must be 18 or over on the date you post it);
  • your full postal address;
  • the email address registered to your account; and
  • your telephone number.

5.3 One postcard equals one Ticket. You may send as many postcards as the Ticket limit for that Competition allows. Postcards must be received before the Closing Date; entries that arrive later, or after the Competition has sold out, cannot be entered.

5.4 When we accept your postal entry we allocate a Ticket number to your account and email you confirmation. If your Ticket number carries an Instant Win, you receive it in the same way as a paid entrant.

5.5 We cannot accept responsibility for postcards that are lost, delayed or damaged in the post. Bulk, printed, photocopied, illegible or incomplete postcards, and entries that appear to be part of a scheme using multiple names or addresses, will be rejected and any associated entries may be cancelled.

5.6 There is no telephone entry route.

6. Prizes and cash alternatives

6.1 The prize for each Competition is described on the Competition Page. Prizes are as described and are not transferable. Where a prize is unavailable for reasons outside our control we may substitute a prize of equal or greater value.

6.2 A cash alternative is offered only where the Competition Page says so, and the amount will be stated there. Where no cash alternative is stated, none is available.

6.3 Where a prize is paid as Site Credit, this will be stated on the Competition Page or in the Instant Win details. Site Credit is not cash and cannot be withdrawn unless we say otherwise (see section 10).

7. Instant Wins

7.1 Some Competitions include Instant Wins. The Competition Page shows the Instant Win prizes and how many of each remain.

7.2 Before a Competition opens for sale, our platform randomly assigns each Instant Win prize to a Ticket number within the Competition. When a Ticket with an Instant Win is allocated to you, whether you paid for it or entered by post, you win that prize and are told straight away. Where a Competition uses a game format to reveal the result, for example a scratch card or a spin, the game is for entertainment only: the outcome was fixed when the Ticket was allocated and the game does not change it.

7.3 Instant Win prizes may be cash, Site Credit, a physical prize, or free Tickets in another live Competition. Where free Tickets cannot be allocated, because the linked Competition has closed, has sold out, or the Tickets would take you over its Ticket limit, you receive Site Credit equal to the value of those Tickets instead.

7.4 Winning an Instant Win does not affect your Ticket's chance in the main Draw, and every Ticket remains in the Draw.

7.5 Cash Instant Wins are paid to the bank account you nominate, normally within 7 working days of verifying your details. Physical prizes are sent to your registered address.

8. The Draw

8.1 The Draw takes place on the draw date shown on the Competition Page, or within 7 days of the Closing Date if no time is shown.

8.2 Winners are selected using TrueNorth, a certified, independently verifiable random number generator. Every allocated Ticket, paid or postal, is included. The result is committed in advance and can be checked independently, so you do not have to take our word that the Draw was fair. We may run the Draw automatically on the platform or as a live draw streamed on our social media channels; the method is shown on the Competition Page.

8.3 The winning Ticket number and the winner's first name, surname initial and town or county are published on the Competition Page and our Winners page.

9. What happens if tickets do not sell out, and extensions

9.1 We draw on the published date whether or not all Tickets have been sold. The prize is awarded in full to the winner regardless of how many Tickets were sold.

9.2 The only exception is where a Competition Page expressly states that the Closing Date may be extended. We use this only in rare cases for very high value prizes. Where it applies, the Competition Page states the maximum extension period. Any extension will be announced on the Competition Page and by email to entrants before the original Closing Date, and no extension will reduce the chance of any Ticket already allocated. Where a Competition Page says nothing about extensions, the Closing Date will not be extended.

10. Site Credit, wallet and cashback

10.1 Site Credit can be used to buy Tickets in any Competition. It has no cash value, cannot be transferred to another person and, unless we say otherwise in your account, cannot be withdrawn.

10.2 Where we offer cashback, the percentage and any conditions are shown at checkout. Cashback is paid as Site Credit once when an order completes and is calculated on the amount you actually pay by card, after any discount. Cashback is not reversed if an order is later refunded, and we may adjust your wallet if cashback was paid in error.

10.3 If we enable wallet withdrawals, they are subject to the minimum amount, verification and timescale shown in your account at the time.

11. Refunds and cancellation

11.1 Tickets are entries in a prize draw. Once your order is confirmed, your entry is final and your payment is non-refundable, except where these terms say otherwise. Because a Ticket is entered into the Draw immediately, the statutory cancellation period for distance contracts does not apply.

11.2 We may cancel a Competition if we cannot run it for reasons outside our control, including a prize becoming unavailable, a fault with the platform, or a legal or regulatory event. If we cancel, we will refund all paid Tickets in that Competition to the payment method used, or to Site Credit if you prefer, and postal entrants will be notified.

11.3 We may cancel Tickets and refund them where a limit in section 4.3 has been exceeded or where an entry breaches section 13.

12. Winners: notification, verification and claiming

12.1 We notify the winner by email to the address on their account, and may also phone or message them. We aim to do this within 7 days of the Draw.

12.2 The winner must respond and, where asked, provide proof of age, identity and address within 14 days of our first notification. If we are unable to contact the winner, or the winner does not respond within that time, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize and select another winner from the same Competition using the same method, after making reasonable further attempts to make contact.

12.3 Prizes are delivered to the winner's registered address in the United Kingdom, or paid to a UK bank account in the winner's name, within 28 days of verification unless a longer period is stated on the Competition Page (for example for vehicles or made-to-order items). We pay standard delivery costs within the UK.

12.4 By accepting a prize the winner agrees that we may publish their first name, surname initial and town or county. We will only use a winner's photograph or video with their consent.

13. Fair play

13.1 You may not use more than one account, automated tools, or any method designed to gain an unfair advantage or to exceed a Ticket limit. Entries made through a third party or on behalf of someone else are not accepted.

13.2 We may suspend an account, cancel Tickets, withhold a prize and refund or forfeit payments where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached, or where we are required to do so by law or by our payment provider.

14. Player protection

14.1 Our competitions are for fun. Every account can set a spending limit, take a timeout, or be closed on request. Details are in our Player Protection Policy, which forms part of these terms. We accept debit cards only and we do not offer credit.

15. Our liability

15.1 Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

15.2 Subject to 15.1, we are not liable for any loss that was not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, for loss of a chance to win where the Competition was run in accordance with these terms, or for any failure of the post, of your internet connection or device, or of a payment service outside our control.

15.3 Prizes are supplied with the manufacturer's or supplier's guarantee where one exists. We give no additional warranty in relation to any prize beyond what the law requires.

16. Your personal data

16.1 We use your personal data to run competitions, process payments, contact winners, publish results and, where you have agreed, send you marketing. Our Privacy and Cookie Policy explains this in full and forms part of these terms.

17. Complaints

17.1 If something has gone wrong, please tell us. Our Complaints Procedure sets out how we handle complaints and the timescales we work to.

18. General

18.1 We may update these terms. The version in force when you enter a Competition applies to that Competition. We will not change the terms of a Competition that has already opened in a way that disadvantages entrants.

18.2 If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, the rest continues to apply.

18.3 These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. If you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland you may also rely on the consumer protection rules of your home nation and bring proceedings in its courts.

18.4 These terms were last updated on 21 September 2026.
